THE PROJECT
The inspiration for ARROGANCE was born out of fear. The film is an artistic response to our lost connection to nature - and the fatal consequences of the path that we chose.

BACKGROUND
Earth is dead. Consumed by wildfires, tsunamis, superstorms, Mother Nature finally gave up. Most people have already abandoned earth for Mars. One of the last believers, a scientist named Ayla, is determined to stay and save the planet. But her dedication falters as Misha appears and tempts her down a different path.
CREATIVE PROCESS
In 2019, we visited Malin Bobeka Tadaa's art installation and were greatly inspired to utilize the breathtaking scenery for a short film. Two days later, we arrived with a camera crew and talented dancers Tarika and Empo. Johan Eriksson, who also directed the film, had crafted a brief synopsis of a world on the brink of irreversible change.
Feeling the need for additional scenes to complete the film, we secured access to an old nuclear power plant in Marviken a year later, where we filmed the concluding scenes and obtained sufficient footage for the final vision.
Upon completing the last edit, we sensed that something was missing in the final scene. That's when the rocket idea emerged, thanks to some of the most talented VFX artists we know.
The final film is proof that we can trust the process, allow time to take its course, and something beautiful will emerge.
THE SOLUTION
Thanks to the cinematographer Daniel Gustafsson, who also co-produced this film, we were able to adopt the correct artistic approach that visually narrated the story of a world on the brink of irreversible change. He identified the angles and movements in the images that injected additional life into the storyline and dance scenes.
Tarika and Empo, with their extensive history of collaboration, crafted beautiful improvised dance scenes that significantly contributed to the narrative, featuring alien-like movements set against the apocalyptic backdrop of the story.
You often hear that the right people can create anything, and this is proof that this statement is very true.
TARIKA WAHLBERG
DANCER
Arrogance! It was a playfully permissive environment where magic was created effortlessly. With different artistic starting points, we met at a safe space.
The production team had done a lot of preparatory work so on set it was easy to work and see the vision described for us dancers. Grateful for the cooperation and trust.
